Installing an eSIM on Huawei
Installing an eSIM takes about two minutes. Pick your phone brand below and follow the three parts: install the profile, set the APN if your plan needs one, and flip the right switches before you fly.
Pick your phone brand
Check first: most Huawei phones do not support eSIM. Among the ones that do are the P40, P40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro and Pura 70 Pro. If Settings has no eSIM option, write to us — we will swap the card for a profile for another phone.

Install
- Open Settings. Connect to Wi-Fi and keep the QR code from your order at hand — on a computer, a second phone or a printout.
- Choose Mobile network. It is right at the top of the list, under Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- Choose SIM card management. This is where Huawei keeps every card — physical and eSIM.
- Tap eSIM. If there is no eSIM entry in this list, your phone does not support eSIM — write to us. Your current SIM stays where it is.
- Tap Add. You are adding a new plan next to the one you already have — nothing gets removed.
- Choose Scan QR code. Type the activation code by hand only if scanning does not work — both are on your order page.
- Scan the QR code from your order. Only have this one phone? Take a screenshot of the QR code, open it in the Gallery app and tap the scan icon (AI Lens / HiVision) — the phone reads the code and offers to add the eSIM.
- Name the plan and confirm. A name helps you tell the eSIM from your home card, e.g. “Travel”. Downloading the profile usually takes under a minute — stay on Wi-Fi until it finishes.
APN — Turkey
- Choose Access Point Names. This chapter is for Turkey plans only — every other plan sets its APN by itself. The APN value is on your order page, next to the QR code. Path: Settings → Mobile network → Mobile data → your eSIM plan.
- Tap New APN. On newer versions it is the “+” at the top of the screen; on older ones, ⋮ → New APN.
- Enter the APN and save. Type the APN value from your order into both Name and APN. Leave everything else as it is, then tap ✓ at the top (or ⋮ → Save).
- Select the new APN. Pick the access point you just added — the filled dot means it is the one in use.
Settings
- Set the eSIM as the data card. In SIM card management the eSIM switch must be on, and Default mobile data must point at the eSIM. Calls and texts can stay on SIM 1.
- Turn off automatic data switching. Further down in SIM card management. Left on, it lets the phone fall back to your home SIM — and that means roaming charges.
- Turn on Data roaming. Settings → Mobile network → Mobile data. Turn on the mobile data switch at the top and Data roaming for the eSIM — a travel eSIM only ever works in roaming.
On arrival
- After landing: toggle airplane mode. The internet only starts working in the destination country. Once there, turn airplane mode on, wait 10 seconds and turn it off. Activation can take 5–15 minutes.
