Installing an eSIM on OPPO (OnePlus, realme)

Installing an eSIM takes about two minutes. Pick your phone brand below and follow the three parts: install the profile, set the APN if your plan needs one, and flip the right switches before you fly.

Pick your phone brand

OPPO, OnePlus and realme share one system, so these steps cover all three brands. eSIM lives mostly in the higher series (OPPO Find and Reno, OnePlus 11 and newer, realme GT) — cheaper models may not have the option.

Install

  1. Open Settings. Connect to Wi-Fi and keep the QR code from your order at hand — on a computer, a second phone or a printout.
  2. Choose Mobile network. It sits right under Wi-Fi. On some models and older system versions the SIM cards live under Connection & sharing instead.
  3. Choose SIM cards & network. On some phones (OnePlus and realme especially) this entry is called SIM+.
  4. Tap Add eSIM. Your current SIM stays where it is — the eSIM joins as a second card.
  5. Choose Scan QR code. If the phone first searches for carrier plans, wait a moment — the QR code option appears underneath.
  6. Scan the QR code from your order. Only have this one phone? Take a screenshot of the QR code, open it in Photos and tap Google Lens — the phone offers to add the eSIM.
  7. Name it and confirm. Enter a name such as Travel plan so you can tell the eSIM from your home SIM, then tap Done. Downloading the profile usually takes under a minute — stay on Wi-Fi until it finishes.

APN — Turkey

  1. Choose Access points (APN). This chapter is for Turkey plans only — every other plan sets its APN by itself. The APN value is on your order page, next to the QR code. Path: Settings → Mobile network → SIM cards & network → tap your eSIM plan.
  2. Tap +. The plus sits in the top-right corner of the access point list.
  3. Enter the APN and save. Type the APN value from your order into both Name and APN. Leave everything else as it is, then save (Save or ✓ at the top of the screen).
  4. Select the new APN. Pick the access point you just added — the filled dot means it is the one in use.

Settings

  1. Use the eSIM for mobile data. In SIM cards & network (or SIM+) the eSIM switch must be on, and the data SIM must be the eSIM. Calls and texts can stay on SIM 1.
  2. Turn off automatic data switching. On the same page, under the data SIM. Left on, it lets the phone fall back to your home SIM — and that means roaming charges.
  3. Turn on Data roaming. Settings → Mobile network → SIM cards & network → your eSIM plan → Data roaming. A travel eSIM only ever works in roaming. Also make sure mobile data is on (Mobile network → Mobile data).

On arrival

  1. After landing: toggle airplane mode. The internet only starts working in the destination country. Once there, turn airplane mode on (Settings → Connection & sharing, or the quick settings panel), wait 10 seconds and turn it off. Activation can take 5–15 minutes.
